Thanks to Marion and Anne for all of their hard work. The reunion began with check in at the Ramada Lakeshore Chicago. It was pure joy greeting each other while munching on fresh fruit. After checking in, it was off to Club 113 where the fish was frying and the spaghetti was great. We were all overeating and dancing to the music played by DJ Steve. Tired, full and sleepy it was back to the hotel for a rest.
Early Friday it was breakfast and off to the Picnic at Jackson Park. Marion played the Pied Piper taking all of the children to the museum. During the picnic we were treated to a gymnastic Feast by future Olympians, Sahara Gipson (daughter of Diane Gipson) and the grandsons of Maybell Hoskins - Keith, Marquis, Neil, and Laden Hoskins.
Saturday dawned with a boat ride on our mind. Down to the Navy pier we trooped in two groups for a ride on the Sea Dog. Water splashed, some were soaked, and the sun beamed down but riding the Sea Dog was a blast. Back to the hotel we tried to relax and get ready for the banquet. The banquet brought everyone out in the best dress. Boy! Are we a beautiful family!
The food was superb. DJ Steve was on the scene with music for all generations. What is a banquet without the cupid shuffle? We danced and we ate the night away. Thanks to DJ Steve for the music. The program for the banquet was open mike. Talent and more talent abound in the Lindsey Family.
Sunday came bright and early. The Family met for the last time for a closing breakfast. The oldest member attending was Claudia Williams age 91 of Chicago, IL. The youngest family member attending was Khalil-Mutope Habitular Davis age 3 of Detroit, MI. The family from the greatest distance was Melvin and Barbara Lindsey of California.

Our reunion took place from July 22nd-25th and was hosted at the Heldrich Hotel in this central New Jersey city. We came from as far as California and there were over 130 family members participating throughout the weekend. The eldest member present, 95 years of age and the youngest 5 months old. The family gathered at Craigmeur Recreation Facility for the cookout and we ate, rekindled and had a great time together. Even through the early afternoon rain we swam, took pictures and played a few ball games. We enjoyed the nightlife, conversations on the patio, shopping and bowling. We learned of our family roots to Africa at the banquet and then danced the night away. Finally we wrapped up our wonderful weekend with praise and worship at Abundant Life Family Worship Church.

We had a wonderful time in July 2014 at the Lindsey Family Reunion held at the downtown Marriott in Hartford, Connecticut. The theme, “Fruits of Love,” truly embodied the love and family spirit felt by all in attendance. We want to say thanks to all the members of the host committee, but especially to Clyde Crosby and Cedric Lindsey. 104 of our family members gathered and made a truly enjoyable time. At the Banquet, the Veterans of the family were honored and received plaques.
On Thursday, July 21, 2016, the 24th Lindsey Family Reunion began with a Welcome Reception at Treasure Island Hotel and Casino in the Host Suite. The family members who had arrived were treated to a home cooked southern buffet dinner and open bar, while having a great time reacquainting with family members that they may not have seen for a few years. Registration packets and purchased t-shirts were distributed.
Both Business Meetings were well attended and facilitated by Willie Evans, President. Family business was conducted, and our youth shared their accomplishments during both meetings with the family. We were proud to hear of the accomplishments of our youth. Two (2) Michael Jackson “ONE” tickets were donated by the Host and raffled off as recognition for early registration. Edith Wright was the winner! In addition, the Host donated a bottle of Dom Perignon for each meeting, to be raffled, for family members who arrived promptly to the Family Meetings. The raffle winners were Reverend Robert Ware (1st meeting) and Gloria Wiley (2nd meeting). The 25th Lindsey Family Reunion (special reunion) will be in Detroit, where the first Lindsey Reunion in 1979 was held.
On Friday afternoon, family members were taken by Chartered Bus, to the Vacation Estate Rental for the BBQ picnic, others came by private car. We held the picnic at a rented estate that allowed family members to relax and enjoy in an air-conditioned 4200 sq. ft. environment, playing pool, card games, socializing and a backyard oasis with pool and spa. Many family members enjoyed the shaded patio and playing in the pool. A buffet of home cooked barbeque ribs and chicken, greens, and taco bar were provided. In addition, fried chicken, fish filets, and an open bar were available. After picnicking and playing into the evening, members were shuttled back to Treasure Island for a little rest & relaxation. Later, some family members went to see the Michael Jackson “ONE” show. The evening weather allowed many others to get out and enjoy the evening lights and sights (LINQ, Casinos, other shows and the Promenade).
The 24th Lindsey Reunion Banquet was held on Saturday at Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, in the Caribbean Ballrooms, where the family was treated to a full course dinner, soloist (Barbara Wright-Overstreet), Inspirational Keynote Speaker (Danielle Holly), DJ, socializing and most importantly, an evening of dancing! Many pictures were taken. The Banquet was attended by #106 family members!
Sunday morning, family members enjoyed a banquet Breakfast prior to departure. The 2016 Lindsey Family Reunion in Las Vegas, NV was a great opportunity for family members to see many important American Landmarks (Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon) and make family memories to last a life time.
"Family in Love Tied Together…Today, Tomorrow, Forever.”
The 25th anniversary of our reunion and the first return to Detroit in 39 years.
The Detroit Marriott at the Riverside Renaissance Center was also a perfect location. It was also the host
location for three other family reunions.
On Saturday at the cookout on Belle Isle State Park, there was another Lindsey family having their
cookout directly across from our site. The banquet featured a very funny stand up comedian and a great live band. The other traditions of our bi-annual event was conducted with business meetings and election of officers. A remarkable even for our family!
"Our Branches are Spread Out, But our Roots are United"
After several years of delay due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, our family reunited in Pensacola, Florida to celebrate 44 years of growth!
What a wonderful time we had last week at the Lindsey Family Reunion in Pensacola Beach, Florida. Congratulations to the family reunion hosts William Franklin, Bakari Franklin, and Arthur Adams on the planning, implementing, and executing of what turned out to be a very successful reunion.
